James Livesay

After graduating from the prestigious University of Virginia School of Law in 1998, Mr. Livesay served in the U.S. Navy JAG Corps from 1998-2001, where he received the Award for Trial Advocacy from The Association of the Bar of the City of New York, Committee on Military Affairs and Justice, in 1998. He went on to receive Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals in 2000 and 2001 (Gold Star in Lieu of Second Award).

Along with partner Kevin Myers, Mr. Livesay formed Livesay&Myers, P.C. in 2003, when the firm opened its first office in Woodbridge, Virginia. The firm has grown steadily since, and now encompasses a team of lawyers and paralegals across offices in Fredericksburg, Fairfax and Manassas, Virginia.

Drawing on his experience as a Navy JAG officer, James Livesay established the Military divorce section of the firm in 2003 and has guided it since that time. His article, "Treatment of Disability Pay in Military divorce," has been published on a number of online divorce websites, including divorce Headquarters, and Womansdivorce.com.

As a certified Guardian Ad Litem for children, Ms. Eaton's practice has a special focus on cases involving child custody, visitation and support issues.

Ms. Eaton has almost twenty years of legal experience. She graduated from Southern Methodist University School of Law in 1994, and began her legal career a year later when she helped establish the family law practice of a boutique law firm in Texas. After moving to Virginia in 1997, Ms. Eaton worked first as an Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney in the Hampton Roads area, before moving to Richmond to work as an attorney for the division of Child Support Enforcement (DCSE).

Ms. Eaton served as legal counsel to DCSE from 1999-2006. In that position, she litigated child support cases in eight jurisdictions across Virginia. Ms. Eaton also served on the legislative committee responsible for reviewing and tracking new bills related to child support and Temporary Aid to Needy Families during General Assembly sessions.

In addition to her legal experience, Ms. Eaton brings a wealth of life experience to her family law practice. She is the mother of two adult children and three grandchildren. Originally from North Carolina, she raised her children in Texas before moving back to the east coast (Virginia) after her youngest daughter finished high school.

Jonathan McHugh was born in Boston, Massachusetts and moved to Northern Virginia in 2005 after graduating cum laude from Wake Forest University a year earlier. He then worked for 3 ½ years as a consultant in the Washington, D.C. area. In that capacity he served exclusively clients in the federal government, including the Department of Defense and the U.S. Army.

Mr. McHugh moved on from his consulting work to attend Catholic University Columbus School of Law. During law school, he completed two different internships in the United States Attorney's Office in Washington, D.C. Mr. McHugh also worked as a certified student attorney with the Families and the Law Clinic in law school, representing victims of domestic violence in D.C. Superior Court.

After graduating from law school in 2011, Mr. McHugh practiced family law for over two years at a law firm in Vienna, Virginia. In that position, he gained tremendous experience with every type of family law matter in the courts of Northern Virginia, including a large number of contested divorce, custody, child and spousal support cases.

Sarah Collins is a associate attorney at Livesay & Myers, P.C., practicing family law and estate planning. She is experienced in handling every type of family law matter in Virginia, including separation, divorce, custody and support cases. In her estate planning practice, Ms. Collins drafts wills, trusts, advance medical directives, living wills, and powers of attorney. Ms. Collins works in the firm's offices in Manassas and Leesburg, and represents clients in Prince William County, Loudoun County and all across Northern Virginia.

Before entering private practice, Ms. Collins served for two years as a law clerk in the Prince William County Circuit Court. She is one of the most experienced attorneys in the firm in navigating the Prince William County court system.
